Our Curriculum. Their Discovery.
At Shu Ren, we’re proud to offer a truly special learning experience—one that blends the world-class International Baccalaureate (IB) program with full Mandarin immersion. This unique combination opens doors for our students to grow as confident, curious learners who see the world with both depth and wonder.
Our academics reflect the rich diversity and strong sense of community that make the Bay Area so vibrant. Here, every child is encouraged to explore, ask big questions, and connect deeply with ideas and cultures beyond the classroom walls.
We warmly invite you to explore our Program pages and discover how Shu Ren’s approach inspires a lifelong love of learning and helps nurture thoughtful, capable global citizens.

At Shu Ren, Social Emotional Learning is woven into both our curriculum and our school culture. Students build skills in self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship building, and responsible decision-making in ways that feel natural and meaningful.
These practices are integrated across all grade levels, helping children learn to collaborate, solve problems, and approach challenges with confidence, empathy, and resilience. At Shu Ren, we use the Responsive Classroom approach to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued. This research-based model highlights the connection between academic success and social-emotional growth, with a focus on respect, care, and community building. Through consistent routines like morning meetings and afternoon reflections, students develop a strong sense of belonging, responsibility, and connection to one another.
At Shu Ren, we use the Zones of Regulation framework to help students recognize and understand their emotions. By identifying which “zone” they are in, children learn strategies for self-regulation, resilience, and responding to challenges in healthy ways. This approach empowers students to manage their emotions with confidence and to engage more positively in both their learning and their relationships.
As part of the IB curriculum, PSPE supports the personal, social, and physical wellbeing of every student. Through themes of identity, interactions, and active living, children gain a deeper understanding of themselves and others. At Shu Ren, PSPE helps students grow as balanced, reflective, and responsible global citizens who care for their own wellbeing and the world around them.
