Our Elementary Program builds upon the strong foundation established in the Early Years, where children develop a love of learning, social-emotional awareness, and confidence in themselves as capable learners. From Kindergarten through Grade 5, students step into a vibrant bilingual environment where Mandarin and English come together through the Dual Language immersion Model. This approach not only strengthens language skills but also broadens perspectives, helping children engage thoughtfully with the world around them.

At Shu Ren, learning in Grades K–5 is driven by curiosity, exploration, and connection. Each year, students participate in six transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry, which form our Program of Inquiry (POI). Across these 36 thoughtfully designed units, they gain a strong foundation in the essential standards of the International Baccalaureate (IB), the State of California, the Common Core, and the Next Generation Science Standards.

What makes our approach unique is the way every unit integrates core subjects—including Mandarin, English, Math, Social Studies, Science, the Arts, and Physical Education—into one cohesive learning experience. Students don’t just study subjects in isolation; they discover how ideas link together and apply their learning in real-world contexts. We follow the internationally recognized IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), a dynamic curriculum embraced by leading schools worldwide. Learning is inquiry-driven, hands-on, and personalized—encouraging students to question, explore, reflect, and take meaningful action.

Equally important, we nurture the whole child. Social-emotional learning is woven into daily routines and classroom experiences, supporting children as they build resilience, empathy, and collaboration skills. These essential life skills strengthen academic growth and prepare students to thrive in diverse communities.

At Shu Ren, bilingualism helps bring it to life.

Take the first step—submit your inquiry and discover how we nurture confident, curious, and compassionate learners.
