Yumi Guo

Originally from Guangdong, China, Yumi is fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin. She earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Development from California State University, East Bay in 2019 and began her teaching career with preschool-aged children before joining Shu Ren in 2021. Since then, she has taught as a Chinese Stand-alone Teacher, Library Teacher, and classroom assistant, gaining a strong understanding of the IB’s Units of Inquiry (UOI). In the library, Yumi integrates UOI themes into lessons through carefully selected Chinese books, supporting students’ language growth and critical thinking. Outside of teaching, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her two sons.
