Chien-Hsuan Chen 陈粁嬛

Chien-Hsuan is an early childhood educator and preschool leader with more than 16 years of experience in early childhood education. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education in Taiwan and her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design from Dominican University of California. Before becoming Preschool Director, she spent 15 years as a Mandarin homeroom teacher in IB Primary Years Programme early childhood settings in Tokyo and at Shu Ren International School.

Through her experience as an educator, Chien-Hsuan developed a strong belief that the learning environment can serve as the “third teacher.” She believes thoughtfully designed environments invite children to explore, ask questions, make connections, and become active participants in their own learning. She is also passionate about supporting children’s social-emotional development as an essential foundation for learning and well-being.

Now in her fourth year as Preschool Director at Shu Ren, Chien-Hsuan values listening, collaboration, open communication, and building trusting relationships with teachers, children, and families. She is committed to creating a nurturing and supportive community where educators feel empowered to grow, and children are encouraged to explore with curiosity and confidence. Outside of school, Chien-Hsuan enjoys road trips, connecting with nature, hip-hop dancing, and exploring new hobbies and interests.
